Christian Pincock

Christian Pincock performs improvised and composed music and projected video using a computer-based instrument of his own creation with MAX/MSP and valve trombone.  With a keyboard controller and a system of sensors attached to his trombone he is able to control processed sounds and generated video, integrating them together expressively.  His musical work is both dynamic and subtle, drawing from diverse styles such as improvised experimental music, contemporary classical, avant-garde jazz, noise, and electronic dance music.

He has performed internationally in events such as the Soundpainting Think-tanks in Woodstock, Sweden, and France, the Music Omi International Arts Residency, the Banff Workshop for Jazz and Creative Music in Banff, Canada, as well as venues such as The Stone (NYC), Roulette (NYC), The Lensic (Santa Fe), Le Petit Faucheux (Tours, FR).  Christian has led workshops on various topics including, Soundpainting, the international sign-language for live composition, composition using electronics, and Jazz Improvisation through organizations such as the International Society for Improvised Music, The Center for Contemporary Arts in Santa Fe, and The New Mexico Jazz Workshop.

He has a Bachelor of Music in jazz studies from New England Conservatory and a Masters of Music in jazz studies from Manhattan School of music.  Currently living in Albuquerque, NM, he has been an active musician in New York City, Boston, and Berlin where he has produced and collaborated in diverse musical, multidisciplinary and multimedia projects.
